Activities at Eisteddfod

CLASSES, CLASSES, AND MORE CLASSES

The highest quality Performance-Based Classes from some of the most highly talented people in the Kingdom...and you'll have to go to the Eisteddfod to find out who they are!  And especially for our Youth (elders may attend as well), we will have a guest artist from Unknowne Lands to introduce and instruct in the art of the Drum!  Any extra drums will be most welcome.

TOURNAMENTS

The winners of all competitions/lysts will be honored in Court Saturday.

Ladies Galleries

All Ladies on site are invited to be a part of the Ladies Gallery for the Torch light tourney Friday evening and the Fencing lyst Saturday afternoon!!! The Ladies will all be given tokens to be bestowed upon their favorite bards Friday night and most rapier of wit fencer in the light weapons lyst on Saturday.

Heavy weapon Torchlight Tourney

In order to participate in the torchlight Tourney on Friday evening the Fighters must have a bard to extol upon their virtues for each round they fight!!! The winners of the tourney are determined by two important factors: the total of wins by the fighter and the total of tokens bestowed upon their bard by the ladies gallery.  Each fighter and bard is encouraged to have a consort for enhanced inspiration.

Rapier Wit Lyst

An important factor of the Light Weapon's Lyst Saturday Afternoon is a Rapier Wit.  Each round will be a two minute touch point lyst.  Any killing touches will void out any accumulated touch points.  The rapier wit factored in will be each fencer extolling upon their opponents skills while in combat.  At the end of each round the ladies gallery will bestow their tokens upon the most rapier of wit.  The winner of the lyst will be determined by a total of touches and tokens. Each Fencer is encouraged to have a consort for enhanced inspiration.

Tokens

The Ladies will all be given an appropriate amount of tokens for both lysts. Rumor has it there will be someone selling black-market tokens for those who REALLY want their favorite to win.  Now...we are NOT encouraging cheating...BUT... each Lady is encouraged to support the person they most favor in every way they can.

BARDIC COMPETITIONS

The winners of all competitions will be honored in Court Saturday

The Bard of the Eisteddfod

Each participant will perform a piece with a Period or SCA theme, preferably (but not necessarily) of their own composition (Each participant must have a consort for enhanced inspiration). It is requested the performers credit authors of any borrowed works.

The winner will be proclaimed Bard of the Eisteddfod; they and their consort will be proclaimed as the "King and Queen" or "Queen and King" of the Minstrels until the next Eisteddfod.  At Her Royal Majesty’s decree, the Bard of the Eisteddfod and Consort will have the honor of partaking of Feast at High Table.

Silent Bardic

Each participant will select 10 words from a basket. The challenge shall be to prepare a story, using those ten words, with a "Why I love My Mother", theme in honor of Mother's Day.  Be nervous, members of the College of Scribes will be creating the word list this year.

"Why I Love Trimaris" Competition

Each participant will perform a piece, preferably (but not necessarily) of their own composition, which extols the virtues and the glorious nature of our Kingdom.  It can be about our Crown, our Armies, our victories at Gulf Wars, et cetera. Each entrant is encouraged to have a consort for enhanced inspiration. It is requested the performers credit authors of any borrowed works.

FUNDRAISING ACTIVITIES AT EISTEDDFOD

In loving memory of those whose presence is now but memories in our hearts, there will be several fundraising activities, such as the Trimarian Money Exchange (bearing the likenesses of our beloved Monarchs and Heirs), a Live Target Archery Range (blunts only, please!), Rent-A-Leper (the gift that keeps on giving!), and it is rumored that there are still a number of cut-purses on the loose! Fear not, your Keystone Constables will protect you (but be ye cautious, they do accept bribes!).

You will find available for hire several worthies from PAGOT and the College of Scribes – you can have the bard produce a sonnet for you, and have the sonnet recorded in beautiful calligraphy to boot! Fees are negotiable (for charity)… There will also be a Silent Auction for items and services donated by our Kingdom’s most talented artisans! Proceeds from the fundraising activities will be donated to the American Cancer Society and to the Make-a-Wish Foundation.

Trimarian Money Exchange

This special trimarian money will bear the likenesses of our crown.  There will be a money exchange table set up for the Fundraising activities taking place all day Saturday.

Rent a Leper

Send a gift that keeps on giving.  The more necessary the body part, the greater the cost.  Cures are the cost of the gift.  Cures by Divine Right are negotiable!!!

Live Target Archery Range

It's more fun than a dunking booth!!!  If you know someone you'd pay good money to take a shot at this could be your opportunity!!!  Guest Targets are encouraged.

Rent a Bard/Scribe

Are you verbally challenged when trying to express yourself to that Someone Special in your life???  Do you have the words but are illiterate???  Are you illiterate and verbally challenged???  If you fit in any of these categories you need to pay a visit to our rent a bard/scribe table.  Fees are negotiable.

Cut Purses

We have made up special purses which you will receive at registration.  Any Trimarian money you would like to designate as part of this game will be placed in the pouch, on a visible and easily accessible part of your person, not tied down.  Need we say more?

Keystone Constables

They will be there to protect you from the cut purses.  For a fee they will arrest people and for nominal bribe...err…fee…they will release the miscreants on bail. You too can be extorted!!!

Silent Auction/Bidding War

Bids will be taken throughout the day on the wonderful items donated by our most talented artisans.  An example of just a few: Original song or poem by Mistress Varina, by Mistress Meghan one of her sumptuous fried turkeys, Mistress Cathy Abernathy and her Apprentices are offering a basket of finely brewed beverages, Calligraphy/Illumination of your choice by Baroness Madeleine de Somerville.  This is JUST a sample of the items we will have up for bid!  The results of the bidding war will be announced before court and will be available that evening.
